Phaseolamin (Phaseolus vulgaris)White Kidney Bean Extract: Recently, Phaseolus Vulgaris has become one of the most popular dietary supplements due to it ability to inhibit alpha-amylase, the digestive enzyme that converts starches to body fat. Scientific support studies in humans show that the partially purified white kidney bean extract, Paseolamin or (Phaseolus Vulgaris), can effectively inhibit up to 95 percent of intestinal amylase activity, thereby preventing dietary starch digestion and the corresponding after-meal rise in insulin concentration. In these studies, the partially purified bean-derived amylase inhibitor also reduced after-meal increases in plasma concentrations of glucose and insulin in test subjects

In other in vivo studies, bitter melon fruit and/or seed has been shown to reduce total cholesterol and triglycerides in both the presence and absence of dietary cholesterol.
